The Residency Obligation (RO) requires all PRs to be physically present in Canada for a minimum of 730 days out of every five-year period. If a PR has spent less than 730 days in Canada, a Residency Obligation Review is triggered to justify why PR status should be retained based on humanitarian grounds or specific employment/family arrangements.
Highly variable and depends on whether the review is inland or at the POE, and if an appeal is filed. Reviews can take several months to over a year.
